Numbers-matching C2 Corvette Recalls Summers Past
Blue-on-white C2 Corvette has all of its parts, including a Muncie four-speed, teakwood steering wheel, and tons of sunny memories.
The nights grow longer. The leaves dazzle with color. The air cools with each passing sunset. Fall is well underway, which means you’re likely shopping for a Corvette to work on during the cold of winter. Why not check out the classifieds of our Corvette Forum Forums? Our members might have the ‘Vette of your dreams, after all.
For example, a dream of summers past. We found this ’65 C2 Corvette convertible the other day, and it’s a stunner to be sure.
“[It’s a] ’65 numbers match roadster,” writes the seller, trajo. “Blue with white leather, 350 HP, M21 trans, teakwood telescoping, power steering.”
Not only do the numbers match, but the C2 convertible looks like it’s only seen the sun, enjoying the warmth of summer every chance it got. The paint is perfect, as is the top, which more likely than not stayed tucked away under the tonneau cover.
Under the long hood, though hard to see, is the L79 327 V8, which indeed made 350 horsepower back in the day. Judging by how clean the rest of the car is, we believe it still makes 350 horses today, right up to the single-inlet Holley four-barrel. All of that power is managed through a Muncie M21 four-speed manual, a close-ratio unit good for high revs for those sudden times you need to smoke some fools at the stoplight.
Not that you’d feel like doing so. The teakwood steering wheel likely has stories to tell of road trips to the beach, cruises down Main Street, and perhaps even a few stoplight heroics. The white leather buckets still look good today, owing to the love and care the seller’s put into the summer stunner.
The Southern California-based seller is asking $68,000 for this numbers-matching masterpiece. The question then is whether you want to buy a new C8 convertible, or experience this C2-era Corvette.
If the answer is “neither,” though, no worries. There are more ‘Vettes of all eras in the Corvette Forum Forums Classifieds. Why not see what’s available today?
