Red Mist C8 Corvette First Look: Caught in Corvette Museum Parking

One Corvette Forum member happened to be in Bowling Green one day when he caught the Red Mist C8 Corvette beauty on his smartphone.

The big news for 2021 is a new shade of red for the C8-era Corvette: Red Mist Metallic Tintcoat. The new shade replaces Long Beach Red Metallic Tintcoat, a red from the C7 era. It’s sure to catch a few eyes once the 2021 models hit the road in early December.

Recently, though, one of our Corvette Forum members caught sight of a Red Mist C8 Corvette hanging out in the parking lot of none other than the National Corvette Museum down in Bowling Green.

“Was in the Bowling Green area for work today and stopped in for a visit,” wrote Monsoon. “I have a deposit in with Mike Furman for a 2021 and am anxiously awaiting my turn. I’m very interested in the new Red Mist color. As I was driving out, I saw this car in the parking lot. Certainly looks like Red Mist to me! I hadn’t seen many photos yet, and unfortunately, it wasn’t sunny out today. The car has KY dealer plates on it, so I figured it was fair game to take photos.”

According to Monsoon, the Red Mist “has a lot of depth to it,” adding that it’s “much darker at certain angles” and “glows when more light hits it.” It’s certainly enough to put his name down on the red line when his allocation comes up.

What does the rest of the class have to say about the Red Mist, though? DNAST1 was disappointed by what he saw, stating in his opinion the new red “looks kinda bland without the sun shining on it.” JABCAT, however, loved what he saw despite the lack of sun shining on the Corvette’s “Old Kentucky Home,” proclaiming Red Mist “much better than [Long Beach Red].”

The thread is split evenly on the shade. However, if anyone could move the needle in favor of Red Mist, it would be jagamajajaran. He, too, caught the car on camera, even filmed it. When he was there, though, the sun arrived for a moment to bring out the beauty within. Guess time will tell if this shade hits the right notes.
