With 30+ years of documented racing history, this vintage Corvette Coupe B production racer is one cool find.

While the Chevrolet Corvette has long been prevalent in the world of motorsports, finding vintage racers these days isn’t terribly common. Many early race cars were driven into the ground, destroyed, or parted out years ago, all of which makes this 1964 Corvette Coupe B production racer up for sale at Fantasy Junction all the more special.

While this Corvette Coupe B racer is cool enough in its own regard, it also has a pretty impressive track record, too. It was originally sold in California and kept by the original owner all the way until 1990. The new owner proceeded to have the car restored to vintage specifications, including restoring the disc brake conversion, all with an eye toward keeping it legal per the 1967 SCCA GSR rule book.

Once that restoration was completed, the Corvette Coupe B racer went on to compete in a variety of HMSA, CSRG, and SVRA events at tracks including Sears Point, Thunderhill, and Laguna Seca. In 2013, Fantasy Junction’s owner, Bruce Trenery purchased the car and proceeded to continue racing it with a variety of engines, in events including the Monterey Historics and Reunion, the Wine Country Classic, and the Daytona 24 Hour race.

Right now, the vintage Corvette racer is equipped with a 327 V8 built by Tom Armstrong, a 4-speed Muncie gearbox, 3:90 rear gears, and four-wheel disc brakes. The car rolls on a set of American Racing magnesium wheels wrapped in Goodyear Blue Streak racing tires and has received a recent mechanical overhaul, though the seller notes that it’s running a bit hot and needs a refresh before it’s ready to race.

The ’64 Corvette coupe is also obviously showing a bit of wear from its many racing endeavors, but to us, that only adds to its appeal. After all, this is a car that has spent the better part of its life on a track, and it deserves to continue to do so for many more years to come. It comes complete with 30+ years of documentation, a few podium finishes, and enough stories to keep bystanders occupied for hours. And if that isn’t doesn’t make this one of the coolest Corvettes on sale right now, we don’t know what would.
