Once owned by Florida’s Rod Wave before nearly losing his life in it, Judah Findley takes C8 Corvette to CarMax for a joke, gets real quote.

We always hope our Corvettes don’t end up at Copart or the scrapyard. Yet, accidents do happen. And not even the newest C8 Corvette has escaped, despite being nearly a year into production. One of the biggest accidents involved St. Petersburg, Florida hip hop star Rod Wave. Wave purchased his Ceramic Matrix Gray C8 in late May 2020, according to CorvetteBlogger. Almost a month later, Urban Islandz reported the accident, which Wave mentioned on his Instagram.

Not long after the crash, YouTuber Judah Findley of Judahs Garage purchased the wrecked C8 Corvette from a salvage yard to — what else? — rebuild it. Recently, though, Findley decided to have some more fun with it with a visit to CarMax.

“The time has come,” said Findley. “I’m tired of waiting for these frame rails. We’ve been waiting over a month now; they’re on the way […] But me and Matthews wanna rip this thing. The only thing holding us back from ripping it is putting the radiators on, which we have.”

Thus, Findley goes to town on the original frame rails in order to mount one of the radiators in order to keep the LT2 cool enough to rip on it. A few cuts here, some hammering there, a few self-tapping screws all around, and all it needs is some fresh coolant to go.

“I think what I decided is I’m just gonna run a long piece of radiator hose […],” said Findley, “and loop the system because I’m fine with there being only set of fans. I think there’s gonna be plenty of cooling, and I really just want there to be cooling in this thing so we can go rip it around a little bit.”

There would be plenty of cooling, all right. All over his driveway. Turned out the busted radiator couldn’t hold its liquor. Thus, he looped the other side of his ride, then took the C8 Corvette for some alignment work before, out of the blue, roll out to CarMax to get a quote.

“We’re about to sneak her ass over there across the road,” said Matthews. “They’re not gonna know we’re recording. We’re gonna act like we’re drunk. We crashed our dad’s car, and we’re rich as fuck.”

The act apparently worked, as on the following day, Findley finds out his wrecked C8 Corvette is worth $25,000 at CarMax. We bet he could get twice that at no reserve at Mecum or Barrett-Jackson, though.
