C8 Corvette ProCharger adds 200 horsepower and is a true bolt-on job requiring common hand tools for installation.

We’ve known for some time now that a C8 Corvette ProCharger was in the works. What we didn’t know, until now, was just how much power this bolt-on centrifugal supercharger kit would extract from the new Corvette’s LT2 V8. Now, ProCharger has released a video showing off the results of their new hardware, and it’s pretty impressive, to say the least.

The C8 Corvette ProCharger helps boost this Z51-equipped car from a stock rating of 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque up to 700 horsepower on premium gas, though no torque figures have been released yet. That’s an impressive gain for a mere 8-9 psi and no tune or other modifications. Aside from the blower, the kit also includes a billet intake manifold and an air-to-water intercooler.

ProCharger says that its C8 supercharger kit is a true bolt-on affair that can be completed using nothing more than common hand tools. It also looks quite good, at least to us, an added benefit of that slick manifold that rests on top of the 6.2-liter powerplant. And with no cutting or trimming required, we imagine that it’ll be pretty popular with C8 owners seeking a bit more power for their rides.

To date, those looking to get more from their mid-engine Corvettes have been forced to go the twin-turbo route, or just stay naturally-aspirated and add things like headers and exhaust. Despite monumental efforts from a variety of aftermarket companies, the car’s ECU hasn’t been cracked yet, so this is about as good as it gets for now. Especially since higher power levels will require beefier bottom end components and transmission upgrades, things that not everyone is willing to do to their brand new sports cars.

Regardless, 700 horsepower in a lightweight car with a lightning-quick dual-clutch transmission is likely enough to satisfy most folks. You can call it a compromise, we suppose, but this is an impressive result for a simple bolt-on modification, no matter how you slice it. Plus, it’ll keep us satiated until more powerful C8 variants like the Z06 come along, whenever that might be.
