We don’t know the circumstances behind this C8 Corvette crash, but it clearly went for one heck of a ride.
The C8 Corvette has been around for a year now and has already established itself as a performance bargain that everyone wants. And despite the fact that it’s been on sale for an entire year, the waiting list for a C8 Corvette is still a mile long. Unfortunately, not everyone that wants a new Corvette is actually capable of extracting its full potential, nor even driving it without crashing, as we’ve seen far too often in the past dozen months or so.
Here, we have our latest C8 wreck, which happened in Panama City, Florida recently. True to form, it looks like the Stingray took a dive off the road and attempted to jump a drainage ditch, which didn’t go too well. The front of the car made it, but the rear is submerged in the dirty water, and judging by the condition of the front end, it landed there first.
Both Jon Miller and Cooper Lawrence (via the C8 Corvette Owners & Friends page) shared pictures of the aftermath on Facebook, which is enough to bring a tear to your eye. Especially if you’ve been waiting months to bring home one of these highly coveted machines. Unfortunately, neither is able to provide any details regarding what happened, but the driver does appear to be OK, at least.
It’s hard to tell from the pictures just how much damage this C8 suffered, save for the smashed front end. We can assume that the undercarriage took a little bit of a beating here, but the question is – how much of a beating? Can this Corvette be easily repaired and put back on the road, or is it headed to an auction for some YouTuber or shade tree mechanic to piece back together?
With any luck, this poor C8 will live to see another day, and we imagine that it will, regardless of how much damage it has suffered. After all, we are talking about one of the most highly coveted vehicles on the planet right now, and people have paid good money for wrecked examples on more than one occasion. This one just figures to be next in line.
