Car Care: Chemical Guys Launches ‘HydroInterior’ Ceramic Detail Spray for Vehicle Interiors
Part interior detail spray, part ceramic coating, HydroInterior is designed to enhance and protect many of your Corvette’s interior surfaces.
Five years ago, after a friend recommended Chemical Guys auto detailing products, yet long before they became a CorvetteForum sponsor, I visited their flagship Detail Garage store and was quickly hooked on their car-care chemicals and vast array of detailing accessories.
Last year, Chemical Guys launched its Hydro brand of ceramic-infused products. Ceramic coatings are a hot topic in the enthusiast and pro detailing circles because they provide enhanced gloss, protection, and durability over waxes, polishes, and other coatings. In fact, HydroCharge is currently my favorite SiO2 (ceramic) spray coating due to its ease of installation, gloss factor, and reasonable price. (For context, 16oz bottles cost $40 and I coated two full vehicles — plastic trim included — with less than a quarter of a bottle.)
This week, Chemical Guys launched its latest Hydro product, HydroInterior.
As the name implies, Chemical Guys designed HydroInterior Ceramic Interior Quick Detailer for plastics, painted plastics, vinyl, imitation leather, plastic vinyl, door panels, and more. (So skip the cloth and genuine leather, okay, folks?)
Full disclosure, I’m pretty OCD about my vehicle interiors. But I’m also the father of a growing toddler. So I understand how some folks just aren’t able to maintain a showroom-fresh vehicle. Meaning, our interiors suffer from “dust, fingerprints, smudges, body oils, and grime.” Yes, parents will still have to vacuum all the crumbs. (The neverending crumbs!) But HydroInterior’s got you covered for cleaning and repelling future dust. Chemical Guys says HydroInterior cleans and protects these interior vehicle surfaces to restore and maintain a new-car gloss.
And then there’s the UV protection. Living in California and having a passion for classic cars, I frequently see the damage our endlessly glaring sun inflicts on ungaraged and unmaintained interiors. (But at least we have little to no rust.) HydroInterior offers protection from UV rays, extending the life of your vehicle’s dash and door panels.
Installation
For filthy interiors, Chemical Guys recommends deep cleaning before using HydroInterior. In their press release, they suggest Nonsense All Purpose Cleaner, and I agree. It’s effective, but non-toxic, odorless, and very gentle.
Then, it’s as easy as spraying HydroInterior onto a microfiber and gently wiping compatible surfaces (avoid touchscreens, leather, and cloth) before applying a dressing of your choice if you require extra gloss.
HydroInterior is available now at ChemicalGuys.com and Detail Garage locations nationwide for $24.99.
