C8 Corvette Center-Exit Exhaust Both Looks and Sounds Great

Aerolarri brings back the center-exit exhaust with this artfully-designed and rather loud C8 Corvette system.

For three consecutive generations, the Chevrolet Corvette came with a center-exit exhaust. But engineers broke that streak with the C8 Corvette, which features a more traditional exhaust with dual tips on each side of the rear. But if you prefer the look of a center exhaust, a company called Aerolarri has come up with a nifty solution that looks awful OEM, and it sounds even better, to boot.

Aerolarri sells a variety of C8 Corvette parts, including aero bits, a rear wing, and factory high wing rear spoiler end caps. The center-exit exhaust is the latest addition to that catalog, and thanks to its positioning, it’s nearly completely straight. That design gives it a unique sound, partly because, as Aerolarri notes, it might be the most free-flowing C8 Corvette exhaust on the market.

Aerolarri’s center-exit exhaust is a one-piece “monoblock” unit that looks like a work of art all on its own. It includes valve simulators to circumvent check engine lights, though it does require a bit of trimming – around 1.5 inches – in the rear diffuser area to make the exhaust tips fit. But as a side benefit, the “hangar bridge” that holds the pipes looks pretty awesome back there, and it also acts as a giant heat sink that allows a considerable amount of air to flow through.

These photos are of a prototype version, and the company says that the pipes won’t stick out so far on the production version. Regardless, the exhaust system starts out at $2,988 and comes with standard tips with a blue oxide color. However, a number of options are available for those that want to customize it further.

These include four different custom carbon-fiber and stainless steel tips, which cost an additional $499 each – black chrome with gloss carbon fiber, polished with gloss carbon fiber, blue oxide with gloss carbon fiber, and satin steel with dry carbon fiber. Full carbon-fiber tips are available for an additional $999, and race mufflers, which reduce volume by around 20 percent, cost an extra $480.

Aerolarri’s new kit is certainly nice to look at and it’s also rather loud. But we imagine that will appeal to more than a few C8 Corvette owners, especially those that miss the old center-exit exhaust from the C5, C6, and C7 Corvette.
