World’s Fastest C8 Corvette Takes On Porsche Taycan Turbo

Hoonigan comes to the strip with a high-powered Porsche, but Emilia Hartford’s C8 Corvette was built to battle.

The release of the C8 ignited a rivalry between Porsche and Corvette. With its mid-engine design and high-performance the C8 Corvette was a proper luxury sports car with Porsche in its crosshairs. While we’ve seen the two face off on the track, we haven’t quite seen a match-up like the one put together by Hoonigan. In their latest video they pit a Porsche Taycan Turbo against a twin-turbo C8 Corvette.

This isn’t just any Corvette, either. It is the world’s fastest C8 Corvette. Owned, built, and driven by Emelia Hartford the ‘Vette recently made a historic 9.41-second quarter-mile run at 144 mph. It is a beast with a turbocharged 6.2-liter LT2 V8 that can make 750 horses in its current set up with a triple piggybacked ECU. Although in the very recent past Hartford has hit a staggering 1,022 hp on the dyno.

However, the all-electric Porsche Taycan Turbo does bring some genuine menace. Owner and driver Cody Mullenaux has a very sweet Porsche, we won’t lie. It is gorgeous. Packing 670 horses it reaches tops speeds of 162 mph, sprinting zero to 60 in under 3-seconds. Certainly the Porsche Taycan has a lot of power. But is it enough to best Hartford’s quarter-mile assassin?

In the “This or That” segment, the Hoonigan crew have set up three 1000-foot runway races. The first run shows that these two are much more equally matched than anticipated. Porsche benefits from it’s all-wheel-drive and gets a nice jump on Hartford. The C8 quickly picks up, but loses in very close race.

After some of the best burns we’ve heard in a while, they go again. Now we won’t give away everything, but the second race really shows off the benefit of the nice, grippy tires and C8 agility. But the Porsche Taycan is no slouch.

The last run is a nail-biter, and we definitely recommend you watch how it plays out. But put that volume up, Hartford’s twin-turbos emit the most satisfying exhaust note.

If Porsche has been looking over their shoulder–and they should–they’re seeing Corvette rapidly approaching. As expected, the C8 Corvette performs remarkably, showing it is very comfortable flexing in the company of any luxury sports car on the market. Hartford is a skilled and determined driver, and now we just need her to head over the the Burnyard to tear it up with the Hoonigan crew!
