1954 Corvette Barn Find

Almost completely intact and original, this amazing 1954 Corvette barn find is now looking for a new home.

Barn finds are all the rage these days, and there are a number of people who do nothing more than travel the country looking for these hidden gems. The result is a flood of barn finds hitting the market and selling for big bucks as more and more people are looking for vintage cars that are in original, preserved condition. And this 1954 Corvette we recently spotted for sale on eBay certainly fits that bill.

The classic second-year 1954 Corvette just emerged from storage after sitting for a whopping 51 years, but it doesn’t look too bad at all. Rather, the Polo White over Sportsman Red beauty remains in remarkably clean and original condition and looks like the perfect car to scoop up, go through it mechanically, and then just drive and enjoy it.

The seller did already somewhat begin that process, as the carb and brakes have been rebuilt. The convertible top frame was sandblasted and painted the original color, and a new interior has been purchased but not installed. There are a couple of minor parts missing including the ashtrays and jack, but nothing terribly major.

Otherwise, this 1954 Corvette is a nice find that originally came fitted with a Powerglide transmission, courtesy lights, and heater. Mostly all of the original factory bits and pieces are present and intact, and the seller has some cool documentation including the bill of sale from April of 1962, the original owner’s manual, a license plate from the 1960s (the last time it was registered), maintenance records, and a gas log dating back to 1962 as well.

The asking price for this very cool piece of history is $54,000, which doesn’t seem terribly unreasonable. It wouldn’t take much to turn this C1 into a cool driver/survivor, one that is sure to attract some attention everywhere it goes. It’s also a great candidate for a full restoration if the new owner wants to go that route. But personally, we’d leave it as is, because as they say, these cars are only original once.
