Old School Custom C2 Corvette Barn Find Emerges After 44 Years

Unlike most hidden gems, this 1964 Corvette barn find was customized decades ago, and now it’s better than ever.

Barn finds are a common thing in the world of Corvettes, mostly thanks to the fact that Chevy’s iconic sports car can be quite valuable these days. Thus, on a virtually daily basis, we see cool, old, generally original cars emerge from decades in storage to once again see the light of day and get a second chance at life. That’s certainly the case with this 1964 Corvette barn find that recently crossed the virtual block on eBay, but it’s a bit different than your average hidden gem.

You see, this C2 Corvette barn find was discovered with a host of period-correct modifications that were a common sight decades ago. The seller, who is the third owner, notes that he purchased it from the second owner who had stored it in Colorado since 1977. In the handful of pictures provided, we can see the car’s time capsule appearance with goodies including side pipes, slotted mag wheels, a bumperless front end, and white-letter tires.

Unfortunately, the seller didn’t provide much history on the old Corvette, but its patina and old-school modifications certainly tell a story. There’s apparently no rust or body damage, outside of the rear bumper and the aforementioned worn paint, but the seller did go to the trouble of installing a new drivetrain that complements its looks perfectly.

That setup includes a new 350 cubic-inch V8 with forged internals and a big blower up top, which looks undeniably awesome and probably sounds even better. Power flows to the rear wheels via a rebuilt M20 four-speed manual that’s been fitted with an HD clutch to a Positraction rear-end with 3.31 gears. The seller also went through the car and replaced pretty much everything that was worn out, including various suspension bits, the gas tank, and carpet, to name a few.

The seller has since taken his rejuvenated barn find, which now rolls on a set of American Racing Torq-Thrust wheels and new rubber, to a couple of vintage car shows, where it obviously attracted a ton of attention. It may not be some concours-quality restoration or even a low-mile original find, but this old-school custom is an incredibly cool throwback to a different era.
