C8 Corvettes Destroyed By Fire

Watching these C8 Corvettes destroyed by a fire is almost as heartbreaking as calling the owners to tell them about it.

The C8 Corvette has arguably hotter than ever, with lines of eager enthusiasts lined up to buy one years after the mid-engine machine was originally unveiled. Unfortunately for a least a small handful of those prospective owners, that dream may have to be put temporarily on hold, however, as these videos, recently posted in the Facebook group C8 Corvette Owners (and Friends) show a handful of C8 Corvettes destroyed following a fire.

According to the post, the C8 Corvettes destroyed were engulfed in flames while the truck was traveling near Nashville, Tennesse as they were on their way to dealerships. The Jack Cooper transport can be seen completely engulfed in flames, which eventually leads to a series of small explosions that send parts flying through the air.

It appears that the transport was carrying 10 C8 Corvettes in total, but thankfully, not all of them were destroyed by the blaze before firefighters were able to put it out. Photos of the aftermath, posted in this CorvetteForum thread, show that only the four closest to the truck were severely damaged by the fire, while those behind them suffered more minor damage. The very first car in the front is virtually unrecognizable, however, quite literally eaten alive by the flames.

“On Tuesday evening, a hauler carrying a load of new Corvettes caught fire in Tennessee after the driver pulled into a truck stop to investigate an issue with the truck,” GM said in a statement to Road & Track. “Fortunately, the driver of the truck is okay. Our vehicle logistics supplier is investigating. As we learn more, we will reach out to affected dealers and customers.”

We can’t imagine being one of the few unlucky customers to take that dreaded call, and we certainly feel for them. Heck, it pains us just to see something like this happen, especially when the C8 remains in high demand across the globe and the future owners of these cars have probably been waiting quite a while to take delivery.
