Not only one of 806 examples built for the 2011 model year, this ZR1 is also one of 64 painted in Crystal Red, comes with a six-speed manual.

Some Corvettes are rarer than others. The first 300 ever built is one such example. Another? The ZR1. The top-tier ‘Vette numbers in the hundreds in most cases. And aside from the C4 ZR-1, most ZR1s spend a year or two in production per generation before the next era begins, like the one-year-only 2019 ZR1.

The C6 Era ZR1 lasted longer than the following C7 Era, arriving in 2009, departing with the C6 in 2013. Among the 4,684 built during those years is this 2011 ZR1. Set to hit the auction block at Mecum Kansas City 2021 December 4, it’ll turn everyone’s heads on the red carpet.

Built after the peak of C6 ZR1 production in 2010, this ZR1 is one of 806 for 2011. That figure is positively tiny for Corvette production. Only 13,596 total ‘Vettes were built for 2011. This ZR1, though, is also one of 64 painted in Crystal Red. According to Corvette Blogger, the 64 ZR1s were among the 1,419 painted in the third most popular color in 2011.

Of course, the real attraction for the C6 ZR1 is its monster LS9 V8. The 6.2-liter brute delivered 638 supercharged horses and 604 lb-ft of torque to the rear through a six-speed Tremec manual. This ZR1’s V8 wound up logging 4,875 miles over the past decade. Perhaps a few of those miles were accumulated one quarter-mile at a time? And the best part? The hood didn’t need to come up to reveal the monster, since it was displayed under a polycarbonate window for all to see.

Behind the LS9, it’s all business. The seats are broken in, yet still look good. The infotainment system may not have the bells and whistles of today’s units, but it still gets the job done. However, the ZR1’s raw power provides more than enough info that such things aren’t needed.

The ZR1 stands above the rest for a reason. It’s also not a ‘Vette most come across on the daily. Thus, when such a machine does appear, it’s wise to heed its call. You might not see one again, after all.
