He finally got his dream C7 Z06 Corvette, and decided to take the long way home.
When looking for the ideal Corvette, often they are found many miles from home. There are many options to have a ride shipped. But one man decided to pick up his new C7 Z06 Corvette and take the road less travelled. And that made all the difference. It also made for a thrilling and satisfying C7 Corvette Z06 adventure. New C7 Z06 owner Rex8499 and a pal drove 3,700 miles across the country, documenting a road trip that even Jack Kerouac would envy.
Rex8499 recently shared his story on Reddit. Not only is is a visual feast of C7 Z06, but Rex also included video of the Corvette’s amazing soundtrack. As well as his enthusiastic response to the beautiful and powerful driving experience. This week Torque Tuesday features the stylish savage C7 Z06 as king of the road.
The dream car is a C7 Corvette Z06, manual, in Daytime Sunrise Orange Metallic (aka DSOM). With that Supercharged 6.2-liter supercharged and intercooled LT4 V8 engine under the hood, it has a lot of oomph and a nice kick of torque.
No other car delivers the Z06 specific caliber performance. Rex soon found out just how special the C7 Corvette Z06 handles.
“I bought my first Vette, a C7 Z06; and drove it 3,700 miles home from DC to Idaho,” Rex wrote. No, they did not choose the easy breezy option. And why would they in a Z06?
They chose a route that allowed the C7 Z06 to show its superior abilities, and bring on the fun and excitement. Plus, a stop at the National Corvette Museum to get more, more, more.
“[Driving] via the Blue Ridge Parkway, Tail of the Dragon…and some of the best driving roads in Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho,” he adds.
Getting an opportunity to take his C7 Z06 on such varying roads was exactly the way to get the most out of the Corvette. Especially in light of the changing seasons. Which was one reason the two decided to hit the road.
“I’d not get to spend much time enjoying the car once it arrived before the snow flies, which could happen anytime. Plus, the experience of hitting those roads was worth it!”
Congrats to Rex on his gorgeous C7 Z06; we are deeply envious of the Corvette and the road trip. Just look at this baby go.
