These once-magnificent Corvettes were taken down by acts of nature and other manmade disasters.
Warning: This will make you wince. This week, we are focusing on Corvettes in unfortunate circumstances. We are including the good, the bad, and the ugly that have left their mark. These Corvettes run the gamut from toast to fixable. Enjoy the mayhem this for week’s Torque Tuesday.
Recently, a user in our forums shared photos from a very unfortunate parking lot accident involving a C8 Corvette. User Justin B. was on the scene of what he called a Corvette mauling. As pictured in the top photo, a wayward and careless Ford driver backed up into–and over–the perfect red C8.
Oh the humanity.
“Perfect example of why I try to park extremely far away from any other vehicles,” added Justin B.
It is tough to see a Corvette that has been crushed. And there are a number Corvettes that have seen even worse. Like excessive bad taste.
If you’ve ever wondered what happens when someone modifies a 1984 Corvette to accommodate a plane, well ….
Spotted for sale on Craigslist the builder was having some fun. We hope. He stretched out the Corvette, and added the tail of a 1963 Mooney plane. Points for creativity. And it could be an interesting concept in the right hands.
But some changes are a bit more permanent.
This is all that remains of a 1957 Corvette. Currently offered for sale at Tracy Performance Corvette, the charred ‘Vette was quite a project. And the owners are hoping that someone continues the work.
The 1957 Corvette Fuel Injected project car went up in flames after catching on fire from fireworks. It a big project, but would be pretty amazing.
A Redditor recently shared this photo. Begging the question, “Why, what, huh?”
“Half Corvette, half shoe box,” says Effinghamman who often spotted it in Florence, SC. Most noticed its similarities to the Hummer. “Half ‘Vette, half Hummer, half stupid,” added Phi1iam. A terrifying glimpse into too much corporate synergy?
Often, personal taste translates nicely to customizing cars. And sometimes a choice as simple as a wrap can get people fired up. This C4 Corvette was dubbed “the birdseed edition.”
Not a lot of textured exterior or wraps, so we think it is interesting. And it definitely looks well done. Its a matter of taste.
All in all, when it comes to crimes against Corvettes there are major, minor, and wrongly accused. Would you drive any of the Corvettes above? Let us know!
