Slime Green C8 Corvette Wreck

This C8 Corvette wreck might be the worst one yet, but it also proves how safe these cars are.

We’ve featured more than one C8 Corvette wreck in recent months, for a variety of reasons. For one, it’s amazing to see how well these cars seem to protect their occupants, which isn’t always the case in the automotive world or especially the sports car segment. Secondly, these accidents are a great reminder that cars like this must be taken seriously and treated with respect, even if modern-day sports cars have a number of built-in safety nets that old cars did not. Regardless, this Slime Green C8 Corvette wreck that went down in Gloucester County, New Jersey recently might just be the worst one we’ve seen yet.

The Mantua Township Fire Department posted photos of the aftermath on its Facebook page, showing the bright green Corvette, or what’s left of it, anyway. The poor C8 is nothing more than a pile of wreckage from what we can see, to the point where it’s honestly hard to tell what you’re looking at, save for the front wheels. Needless to say, the car is a total loss.

This wreck happened late at night on Route 55, and when the fire department arrived on the scene, two people were trapped inside the Corvette while it was on fire. Firefighters managed to put out the flames and rescue the car’s occupants, but amazingly enough, considering how bad this carnage looks, neither was seriously hurt.

This C8 quite literally split in half, as we’re just looking at the front section in the first photo. The engine and the rear section of the car are resting a short distance away from the cabin and front end, but it’s unclear what went down, exactly. This is obviously by design and in this case, it could have quite literally been the difference between a life and death situation.

As for how the crash happened, well, that’s still under investigation. No word on whether or not drugs or alcohol were involved, or if this was just a case of someone exceeding the limits of their driving skills or the C8’s capabilities, but we’d bet on the latter. So let this serve as a reminder to be safe out there!
