Top 5 Corvette Special Edition Models That Are Truly Special

C4 Grand Sport

These Corvette Special Editions are rare, in some cases valuable, and live up to their name thanks to certain features.

Chevrolet’s Corvette is, as most are well aware, one of the most iconic automobiles ever conceived. The Corvette has endured through multiple crises, coming close to extinction numerous times, and yet, it’s arguably better than ever today a couple of years into its eighth generation.

Over the fiberglass wonder’s decades in production, General Motors has produced a large number of Corvette special edition models, each one truly special in its own way. As one might imagine ,this makes it difficult to sift through the bunch and pick our five favorites. Regardless, that’s precisely what we’ve done here.

C4 Corvette Grand Sport

Love it or hate it, the C4 Corvette brought GM’s sports car into the modern era when it launched in 1984, playing a pivotal role in helping the model navigate some very dark times in terms of performance vehicles. To help celebrate the C4’s run, GM resurrected the iconic Grand Sport moniker and attached it to 1,000 total models, giving it a very attractive blue paint job with a white stripe, red hash marks, and an LT4 V8 cranking out 330 horsepower.

Carbon fiber is a big deal these days on performance vehicles, but GM built a Corvette loaded down with the composite material over a decade ago – the Z06 Carbon Limited Edition. This particular machine featured Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, a carbon fiber hood, ZR1-style spoiler, front splitter, and rockers, along with Magnetic Selective Ride Control. However, only 500 were built in total, making this a rare beast, indeed.

Ron Fellows is a legendary name in the world of Corvette racing, having racked up two wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 27 total wins, and three ALMS championships in his time behind the wheel. Thus, GM paid tribute to Fellows with a very special Corvette, finished in red and white with a Canadian maple leaf logo and his own signature. Just 399 were built in total, making the Ron Fellows Championship Edition a rare sight today.

2008 Corvette Z06 427 Limited Edition

The 427 Limited Edition paid tribute to the big block Corvettes of the 1960s and 1970s, with loads of “427” badging everywhere Crystal Red Tintcoat paint, a custom leather interior, and the Z06’s 505 horsepower (not big block) powerplant. GM produced a mere 427 copies for the entire world – fittingly.

When Corvette Racing reached the notable 50-win mark years ago, GM decided to do the right thing and celebrate it with a special Corvette called the Victory Edition, which was based on the C6 coupe and was available in either black or yellow. A mere 250 copies were produced, making this one of the rarer Corvette special edition models ever conceived.
