Flawless 1961 Corvette Restomod Is Equally Capable With LT4 Swap Underhood

There are quite literally no bones to pick with the nearly half-million dollar 1961 Corvette restomod build.

Corvette restomods are a dime a dozen these days, meaning that only the finest examples command attention, as well as big bucks at auction. That was certainly the case with this flawless 1961 Corvette restomod that recently crossed the block at Barrett-Jackson’s Palm Beach auction, which just wrapped up a few days ago. A truly shining example of its breed, there are literally zero bones to pick when it comes to this 1961 Corvette restomod, which is essentially perfect in every conceivable way.

Of course, in the automotive world (and pretty much everywhere else), perfection doesn’t come cheap. And in this case, it didn’t either, as this amazing machine hammered for an incredible $467,500, which is an insane amount of money no matter how you slice it. Regardless, the lucky buyer is getting a lot for their money, at least.

On the outside, that starts with a smooth body covered in House of Kolor’s Orion Silver paint, along with custom-built 18- and 20-inch Schott Wheels, which are wrapped with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. The C1 rides on brand new underpinnings too – an Art Morrison GT Sport independent front suspension chassis with Strange adjustable coilover shocks, an adjustable sway bar, rack and pinion steering, a triangulated 4-bar rear suspension, and a 9-inch rear end. Braking is handled by a set of Wilwood discs at all four corners.

The new owner will need those large brakes too, because this Corvette is powered by GM’s supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8, which makes an even 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. That power flows to the rear wheels via an 8L90E 8-speed automatic transmission. The engine bay and undercarriage have been detailed to utter perfection and painted to match, while some shiny bits here and there provide a little contrast, too.

Inside the cabin, this 1961 Corvette is brand new as well with a host of amenities added that include Dakota Digital gauges, a Vintage Air climate-control system, an Alpine sound system, an integrated backup camera, power windows, a custom center console, an electric actuated hood opener, and an electric actuated emergency brake.

Add it all up, and you’ve got one seriously amazing build that is obviously highly desirable, given its result at auction. And while not everyone may have the means to dish out nearly a half-million for a restomodded Corvette, at least we can admire it from afar.
