This amazing 1963 Corvette Z06 is crossing the block at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas with no reserve.
Barrett-Jackson is still working on putting together the docket for its upcoming 2022 Las Vegas auction, which is set to take place on June 30-July 2. However, it has already announced a couple of very interesting lots for Corvette fans, including legendary rocker Paul Stanley‘s 2022 C8 and now, this amazing 1963 Corvette Z06. One of just 199 produced, any Z06 from this era is undoubtedly special, but this particular car has a mere 4,526 original miles, which is pretty amazing.
Perhaps the only perceived “knock” against this 1963 Corvette Z06 is that isn’t a big tank car, but it’s still one of just 136 cars equipped with the smaller tank, so it’s incredibly rare, regardless. It has been treated to a no-expense-spared body-off restoration, however, and is in truly stunning condition as a result.
Regardless, all of the original goods are present and accounted for, including the car’s numbers-matching 327 V8 with a factory rating of 360 horsepower, along with the original M20 four-speed manual transmission. This C3 Z06 also comes with the original jack and its hard-to-find brake air scoops with manufactures stamps for racing purposes. The track-focused Z06 also came equipped with a thicker front stabilizer bar, larger-diameter shock absorbers, stiffer springs, and upgraded brakes with sintered-metal brake linings, a dual-circuit master cylinder, and a vacuum brake booster.
All of that work has paid off since this restoration was completed, as this 1963 Corvette Z06 has racked up a number of prestigious awards including a Bloomington Gold Certification and not just one, but two National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS) Top Flight awards. Even better, according to the NCRS judging manual, this is the first noted AM/FM car in the VIN sequence, making it even more special than it already is.
We routinely see C3 Z06 models pop up for sale, but they still remain elusive in today’s world. Considering the fact that they were built in very small numbers specifically for racing purposes, that isn’t a huge surprise.
