Love it or hate it, it seems that one or more dealers are cutting off flippers from 2023 Corvette Z06 allocations.

We live in some seriously strange times, times when even used Corvettes are worth more than new ones, mostly thanks to the fact that it’s difficult to find a new one amid various supply chain constraints. As has always been the case, a number of folks – including dealers and individuals – are taking advantage of this tilted supply-demand curve and either marking up or flipping their C8 Corvettes for a profit. This sort of activity is undoubtedly controversial, but those that hate the practice will be happy to know that there’s at least one dealer out there fighting back against flippers, according to Corvette Forum member FloridaVettes.

“I just received a phone call from my salesman at Stingray Chevrolet, a high-volume Corvette dealer a tier below the big three based out of Florida,” FloridaVettes said in this thread. “I was informed that all of the sales team are currently calling individuals on their Z06 deposit list and removing them, if they had previously purchased a base C8 from them, that has been sold within six months of their ownership! I think this is phenomenal and I hope the big three dealers follow a similar model.”

It’s an interesting development indeed, and one that was bound to stir up mixed reactions given the fact that folks have very split opinions on flipping cars. Some feel like it’s the owner’s right to take advantage of a hot market, while others hate the practice for obvious reasons, mainly because it makes obtaining a desirable vehicle like the 2023 Corvette Z06 virtually impossible for a lot of folks.

“I think it’s great…..more Z06s for the people that want to keep them,” said international blue. “Cool, good for them. While people can flip all they want, the dealers have zero obligation to sell to anyone for basically any reason,” added smithers. “Capitalism goes both ways. I would imagine there are some pissed off flippers today.” Of course, not everyone feels that way. “This seems really obnoxious to me if this was sprung on deposit holders with no warning,” said Cubicinches. “If they were told at the time of putting down a deposit that this would be the case, then it doesn’t seem egregious. But if they weren’t, then this seem just plain unscrupulous.”

Regardless, it seems that more than one dealer will be following suit. “I was told by one of the top five dealers this would be their approach,” said foreignbishop. “I’ve also mentioned it a couple times before. Exactly as you wrote. If you bought from one and you traded or sold (six months or whatever) you will NOT be getting a Z06 from them IF you are on their list.”

It’s an interesting development, indeed, and one that will make a lot of folks happy, as well as a few a bit angry. Thus, we’re curious to hear what you think about this hot topic, so be sure and head over here and chime in with your thoughts!
