While some tend to go overboard and ruin a good thing, that isn’t the case with this beautiful 1958 Corvette restomod.
The premise of restomods is quite simple, as most are aware – take a beloved old vintage vehicle and replace various bits and pieces with modern components. But the scope of the restomod world is far more expansive, with some choosing to go a bit further in some areas than others. This, like many things in life, can lead to some projects simply going overboard and making enthusiasts turn their heads in disgust. Thankfully, that isn’t the case with this masterfully build 1958 Corvette restomod, which was put together by the folks at Weaver Customs and is going up for sale at Barrett-Jackson’s upcoming Las Vegas auction.
Weaver mostly left the exterior of this gorgeous 1958 Corvette restomod alone, save for a set of Schott C7 wheels, which are designed to look like a modern interpretation of the original units. Otherwise, the body was simply straightened out to perfection and covered in multiple coats of Axalta Jet Black and 72500S Clear, because why mess with a good thing?
The interior of this C1 is a different story, as it has been completely overhauled with a modern design, Italian Hyde’s leather, and a host of updated components including Dakota Digital gauges, a Vintage Air climate control system, and a custom Autosound head unit with Kicker audio components behind it.
Where this 1958 Corvette restomod completely deviates from an original vehicles of this generation is where it counts – the mechanicals. It rides on a Roadster Shop chassis equipped with C7 front suspension components and an independent rear suspension with fully adjustable Ride Tech coilovers, along with Wilwood brakes with 6-piston calipers, 14-inch rotors, and stainless steel brake lines.
Power comes from a brand new 6.2-liter LS3 crate motor that’s rated to produce a healthy 495 horsepower, which flows to the rear wheels via a 4L75E 4-speed automatic transmission. All of the modern electronics present in this vintage Corvette are controlled via a GM wiring harness and a factory-programmed computer. Add it all up, and you’ve got one super cool C1 restomod that should have a pretty broad appeal, given the extremely good taste that went into its construction.
