Corvette Generation Acceleration Video

This Corvette generation by generation acceleration video is a pretty cool way to see how America’s sports car has evolved.

Like everything else in life (us included) the venerable Corvette has changed a lot over the years, from the early days of the 1950s to the mid-engine exotic we know and love today. But even though GM has made some massive changes to its iconic sports car over the past several decades, one thing remains the same, essentially – this is a machine designed to go fast and put a smile on our faces every time we smash to go pedal. That fact is on clear display in this cool new video from YouTuber Car ACC, which features the sight and sound of every Corvette generation while accelerating.

This unique gathering of every Corvette collection kicks off with a C1, which sounds very mechanical compared to today’s vehicles, because it is. It’s also not terribly fast, but these days, that isn’t the point of these stylish machines – rather, they’re true American classics that are still some of the coolest looking vehicles on the road, to boot.

The C2, on the other hand, sounds like a beast and has no trouble breaking its rear tires loose in this clip as it accelerates a bit more briskly. Still not terribly quick by modern standards, but it sure sounds and looks the part as one of the most beautiful automobiles ever built. The C3 in this video has an even deeper V8 tone and shows off some solid acceleration, though of course, we don’t know what kind of Corvettes the video features, nor what powers them.

Things got slow for a while, as all Corvette fans are well aware, later in the C3 gen into the early days of the C4, and that’s true of the one featured in this video. The fourth-gen Corvette takes a second to get up to speed, even if it does break traction. After that, things begin to improve significantly with the C5, C6, and C7 gens, which pick up speed effortlessly, thought the C8 seemingly trumps them all. Regardless, this video is a pretty darn cool collection that perfectly demonstrates some of the more important ways the Corvette has evolved over the years.
