An older restoration, this beautiful 1963 Corvette split-window has some flaws, but we love it regardless.

Few cars in history are as iconic as the 1963 Corvette split-window coupe, a true one-off that lasted one model year and has since become one of the most famous and coveted classics on the market. And in that regard, few are as absolutely gorgeous (and photogenic) as this Sebring Silver example currently up for grabs at Bring a Trailer. It’s also a two-owner car that has only spent the last year or so with its second owner, who went through the car mechanically and gave it some fresh tires before setting it loose at auction.

The exterior of this particular 1963 Corvette split-window was refinished back in 1998, but it certainly looks as fresh as it did back then. The silver paint perfectly accentuates the iconic lines of this machine, and is complemented by a set of 15-inch wheels with spinner style covers and 205/75 Uniroyal Tiger Paw white-stripe tires.

The interior is equally sanitary, yet showing some patina, and was finished in blue from the factory, with few options to note in this spartan cabin. Regardless, everything we need is present and accounted for, including a pair of seats, a steering wheel, gauges, and a shifter. What more could one possibly want when you’re behind the wheel of a gorgeous classic like this?

The same goes for what lurks under the hood – GM’s 327 cubic-inch V8, which was originally rated to produce 300 horsepower and 360 pound-feet of torque. That small block is mated to a four-speed manual transmission. The engine was rebuilt back in 1997, while the car received a new fuel tank in 2020, along with various other maintenance items including rebuilding the carburetor, distributor, and alternator, changing the oil, and replacing the spark plugs, ignition wires, points, condenser, fuel filter, air filter, battery, fuel pump, thermostat, and various hoses.

A clean and honest older restoration, this C2 certainly looks fantastic in photos, yet has a bit of wear underneath. There’s certainly nothing wrong with that, however, and bidders seem to agree, as this beautiful classic has already hit $90k with a full five days left to go in the auction.
