In this clip, the Z06 faces off against?deep breath?the Ferrari 458 Italia, Nissan GT-R, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Porsche Cayman R, Mustang Boss 302, Audi R8, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Lexus LFA, BMW 1 Series M and a Lotus Evora S.
But it didn’t win. This was shot for Motor Trend’s Best Driver’s Car of 2011 competition, and as Angus Mackenzie states in the very beginning of the clip, it’s not a real test. They just did this because they could. Hey, if you had a eleven of the greatest sports cars on the planet and the space, wouldn’t you? Of course you would. And despite turning in the fastest lap at Laguna Seca, stopping faster, and laying down a record figure-eight time, the ‘Vette didn’t win best driver’s car either. You can read?the well reasoned?argument why here, but the short story is that there’s more to a drivers car than numbers, and anyone who loves their ‘Vette knows that.
As expected, this piece is already generating some heat over on the Forum. Should seats really matter that much in a performance test? Head over and sound off!
