Behold the C2/SS Custom Corvette from the Detroit Autorama
Each year at the Detroit Autorama, first time shown custom cars of all makes and models complete for the prestigious Ridler award. As the top selections are whittled down, the best 8 cars are selected as the ?Great 8″. From that octet the Ridler award is then chosen. For the 2nd time in 3 years, a Corvette was part of the Great 8. This time it was the stunning C2/SS built by Greening Auto Company.
The C2/SS was displayed by Alan and Loretta Woodall from Cary, North Carolina. The design and concept work was done by Eric Brockmeyer of Viera, FL and the build itself was performed by Greening Auto Company in Nashville, TN. Paul Atkins of Hanceville, AL did the masterful interior work.
The Glasurit Lamp Black 1965 coupe features a fully customized bright red interior riding on a SRIII tube chassis. One-off wheels machined by Greening are wrapped in 19 inch front and 20 inch rear Pirelli P-Zero rubber. A combination of C4 and C5 Corvette suspensions attach those wheels and tires to the chassis. Up front sits a modern LS7 engine that’s attached to a GM 6L80E automatic transmission. The underside sports a full dose of chrome applied by Advanced Plating also in Nashville. In addition to the chrome work they also built a one-piece fixture for polishing and plating the windshield and rear window trim. Several billet aluminum parts as well as the cast aluminum oil pan also wear a healthy coat of chrome. Some of our favorite exterior features are the subtle ducktail spoiler on the rear deck and the exposed headlights up front.
We posted a picture of the C2/SS last Saturday night on our Facebook page and it quickly became one of the most liked items we’ve ever posted and now you can enjoy our full photo gallery of it below.
