Gorgeous 1967 Corvette L71 Coupe Is the Real Trifecta
This beautiful red-on-red 1967 Corvette L71 coupe was refurbished a decade ago, but it continues to rack up awards.
For Corvette fans, it’s hard to beat the big block cars of the C2 generation, a collection of amazing rides that culminated with the very last model year’s ultra-powerful L71 427 cubic-inch V8. That particular motor cranked out a factory-rated 435 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque – truly amazing numbers for this era. For many, the 1967 Corvette L71 is the ultimate version of America’s sports car, and we certainly won’t disagree with that assessment. Now, a truly stunning example of this breed has emerged for sale over at Bring a Trailer, too.
This 1967 Corvette L71 coupe is a red-on-red beauty that was refurbished at some point prior to 2012, when the seller acquired it, and that person has since performed some more mechanical work to keep the coupe in top-running condition. Interestingly, it was involved in a front-end collision the same week the original owner brought it home, which isn’t surprising given its incredible performance. Regardless, today, it looks no worse for wear.
Rolling on 15-inch Rally wheels wrapped with reproduction Goodyear redline tires, this particular C2 is also equipped with the F41 heavy-duty independent suspension with front coil springs, a rear transverse leaf spring, and upgraded shock absorbers, as well as four-wheel disc brakes. Mechanically speaking, the big block is the star of the show, however, and sends its copious amounts of power to the rear wheels via a Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission and a 4.11-geared Positraction rear end.
Similarly, the interior is equally sharp and flawless, with a sea of red adorning the bucket seats, carpet, and pretty much everything else save for parts of the dashboard and the woodgrain steering wheel. Other notable amenities include a dash-mounted ignition switch, a center-mounted analog clock, lap belts, a reverse lock-out shifter, polished door sills, and a vertical AM/FM radio.
In spite of the fact that it’s an older redo, this 1967 Corvette L71 coupe continues to rack up accolades, including a 2022 NCRS Top Flight, Performance Verification, and Duntov Mark of Excellence awards, as well as Tri-Power, Bloomington Gold, and the NCRS Triple Crown awards. Now, it’s up for grabs looking for a new home, and we have no doubt that it will find one when the hammer falls on this auction.
