Whopping 80 Percent of 2023 Corvette Z06 Buyers Want Fully-Loaded Cars
Vast majority of 2023 Corvette Z06 buyers want every option, but GM won’t be able to fulfill all of those requests.
Much ado has been made about the 2023 Corvette Z06 in general, and for good reason – after all, we are talking about an exciting product with a thrilling powertrain. Regardless, the new Z06 is destined to be an elusive vehicle for those that want to purchase one, thanks to various supply chain constraints that include things like the highly-coveted Z07 Performance Package and other optional upgrades. Only a small percentage of 2023 Corvette Z06 production will include these options, but that doesn’t mean that the vast majority of buyers don’t want them, it seems.
While speaking at the National Corvette Museum’s 28th Anniversary celebration recently, Kai Spande – the Director of the Bowling Green Assembly Plant – revealed that 80 percent of 2023 Corvette Z06 customers to date have indicated that they want every available option on their cars, according to GM Authority, which is a staggering number indeed. Unfortunately for those folks, it seems as if only a small percentage of cars built in the Z06’s first model year will actually contain those items.
Indeed, the Z06 will only represent a small percentage of 2023 Corvette production, and an even smaller percentage of those cars will be equipped with any of the model’s optional aero bits and pieces. In fact, the aero packages are among the most heavily constrained options available for the C8 Z06, as just three percent of cars produced in the 2023 model year will reportedly come equipped with those items.
With heavy demand and limited production capacity, it’s no surprise that GM shut down 2023 Corvette Z06 orders after they were open just a few weeks, but the question remains – what will become of this new tidbit of news? It seems as if buyers coveting a fully-loaded car have a couple of options – either change that order and remove supply-constrained features, or continue to wait to take delivery, perhaps into the next model year or maybe even further.
This is disappointing news for many, of course, but it’s also unsurprising given the state of the automotive market as a whole. After all, with the Z06 destined to become a profitable flip for many, it’s a safe bet that fully-loaded examples will be every bit as expensive to acquire second-hand as they are hard to find in the first place.
