Corvette and Viper to Share More DNA?

While they certainly might be rivals on the street, it appears the Chevrolet C7 Corvette and SRT Viper might have a lot in common.

Well, at least in the near future.

Wait – give me a second before you go ripping me a new one in the comments section, demanding that the editors here fire me for even suggesting such a thing. My talk of some similarities between the two cars is strictly tied to the production process stemming from a recent report by The Grand Rapids Press/MLive.

So hey, if you want to rip on anyone maybe you should start there.

According to the news source, Plasan Carbon Composites, which builds the carbon fiber hoods for the 2014 Corvette Stingray, will soon begin making the ultra-light hoods for the Viper as well.

The addition of the Viper work stems from the company’s move into a new high-tech facility that will enable them to boost their work capability.

In actuality, it’s really no big deal considering the company already has been making and assembling parts for both cars for some time as well as the Shelby GT500KR.  Carmakers share the same parts and suppliers all the time.

Still, it does beg the question: as the Corvette and Viper are sharing more of the same production processes, will it have any impact on their never-ending showdowns?

Now, feel free to unleash on me in the comments section.
