Recovery of Remaining Corvettes to Take Several Weeks

It appears as though it will be a few more weeks before we get a look at the three remaining Corvettes buried in the debris at the National Corvette Museum.

The team that has been retrieving the cars will first need to stabilize the red spire at the center of the museum’s Skydome, according to a WDRB report. Apparently, the spire is supported by a micropile secured by 18 bolts, which needs to be stabilized before crews can start working on removing the remaining Corvettes.

The cars still in the sinkhole include the 1993 ZR-1 Spyder on loan from General Motors, the 2001 Mallett Hammer Z06 and the 2009 white 1.5-millionth Corvette owned by the museum.

We’ll certainly be keeping a close eye on the process as the crew works to bring the recovery process to a close.
