Sales Report: 2014 Was a Very Good Year for Corvette
So, how do C7 sales measure up to past first-year Corvette models? Well, as you probably expected, pretty damn good.
In fact, with 37,288 units produced, the C7’s sales are nearly equal to the last three years of C6 production combined, according to a GM Authority report. The new Stingray sales, however, did come in slightly lower than the sales for the first year of the C6 when 37,372 units were produced.
Of the units sold for the 2014 model year, 56 percent of buyers opted for the Z51 package, and torch red was the most popular color with 19 percent of buyers choosing the hue.
Even more interesting, 65 percent of C7 buyers chose the six-speed automatic transmission compared with a 35-percent take rate for the seven-speed manual.
