Stunning Custom Wide Body Split Window Corvette Wows at SEMA 2022

This custom wide body split window Corvette not only looks amazing, but with 1,000 horsepower on tap it has the speed to back up the looks.

Now THIS is how you customize a 1963 split window Corvette. SEMA 2022 presented us with the opportunity to see two completely different 1963 split window Corvettes. One was converted into an EV. A for effort, but not really our cup of tea. But the other car is a custom wide body split window that is most definitely NOT an EV. It makes 1,000 horsepower thanks to a LS3 with a Whipple supercharger built by Steve Morris Engines. This engine is hooked up to a Bowler Performance T56 manual transmission.

This custom Corvette is more than just a powerful engine. Just look at the thing. It is gorgeous. It is painted in a color called Rogue Green. And this color is applied over a custom wide body that looks aggressive without being too extreme. Additional exterior enhancements include Custom Carbon bumpers, splitter, side pipe covers, and diffuser by Brothers Composites. The interior by Avant Garde Design is just as appealing as the exterior. If you have to customize a split window Corvette this is a good way to do it.

Eddies Rod and Custom

This custom wide body split window Corvette was built by Eddies Rod and Custom in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They are a small family-owned hot rod shop. Their tagline is ‘If you can dream it, we can build it.’ And the Corvette they brought to SEMA 2022 is certainly a dream. There were a lot of Corvettes at the show and they were all special but this build stood out in a class full of standouts.

Customizing a Classic

This custom car is more up our alley than the EV conversion we featured previously. But there is still no getting around the fact that the car has been heavily customized. There are not many original 1963 split window Corvettes left. Should we be modifying these at this point? Even when the results are as stunning as this one it does remove one more original from the world population. Should we be keeping these original for future generations?

Go For It

Yes, you should customize these, especially when you can end up with something as incredible as this. It is true there are not many split window Corvettes around anymore. But this car here is a true one of one. Building things like this is what makes our hobby fun and keeps it vibrant. There is a place for all-original classics that still have all the original stickers on them. But there is also a place for building your vision and driving your dream. And if people don’t like it then too bad. You do you. Besides with 1,000 horsepower under your right foot. It is unlikely that the doubters would ever be able to catch up with you to voice their displeasure. We love this car.
