’56 Corvette Takes First Place at Detroit Autorama

Many longstanding years of being a Corvette fan certainly seem to be paying off for one Detroit-area man.

Brian Eggers’ 1956 restomod recently earned a First Place award at the Detroit Autorama, besting more than 1,000 entries at the show.

But this isn’t Eggers’ first award. He also won a Best in Show award from the 2014 Old Town Motor Fest in Michigan and a First in Class award from the 2014 Frankenmuth Auto Fest, as highlighted in an MLive.com report.

However, winning an award at the Detroit Autorama certainly puts Eggers and his Corvette in a different league, seeing as it’s one of the most respected indoor car shows in the U.S. for hot rods, muscle cars, and custom-built automobiles.

The nameplate has been a passion for Eggers since he first got hooked when he was 14-years-old. That’s when Eggers purchased his first ‘Vette for $1,100 with money earned from cleaning cars on his uncle’s lot.

The award winning ’56 is actually Eggers’ sixth Corvette. And she isn’t your typical build. The exterior was restored to look exactly like an original, but it also features a few more advanced features like a hands-free phone system. I’d say that’s probably a good indication that Eggers spends more time strutting this beauty on the road than at the shows.

That is when he’s not working on his next project: a 1958 Corvette.
