While I’m certainly happy for Bob Guarrera, there’s a part of me that’s a little envious learning that he only paid $650 for this classic 1958 Corvette.

Granted, that was way back in 1970, but still, after checking out a few pictures of this beauty,
it doesn’t make it any easier to swallow.

Guarrera, 72, said he only bought the Corvette because his 1964 Mercury Comet Cyclone was stolen, according to an Orange County Register report. When he purchased the car it only had 28,000 miles on the odometer and came with the standard 230-horsepower, 283 V-8 with the 3-speed manual transmission.

And get this: the lady he bought the Corvette from was only looking to get rid of it because she wanted something more practical.

“She had just graduated with an art degree and was going to be teaching art,” Guarrera told the Orange County Register. “She had to carry around her easels and all this stuff and she said there’s just not enough room (in the Corvette). So, I gave her the money and I drove home. And I’ve had the car ever since.”

In 1985, Guarrera had the car repainted in its original Snowcrest White color by Corvette Mike’s in Anaheim. The interior has been redone as well.

It probably comes as no surprise that Guarrera doesn’t plan on selling his ’58 ‘Vette anytime soon.
