The risk of buying one of these flood damaged C8 Corvette Stingrays is high, but so is the potential reward.

In recent years, the act of purchasing wrecked, salvaged vehicles and fixing them up has become increasingly popular, thanks in part to rising prices and YouTube, of course, where many of these projects are documented. Buying a salvaged vehicle and fixing it up can be an incredibly rewarding experience if things go well and the damage isn’t too severe or expensive to fix, or things can go far worse, with cars turning into massive money pits that invoke pure frustration. However, for those that are feeling a bit adventurous, IAAI currently has three 2023 C8 Corvette Stingrays up for grabs that were damaged during Hurricane Ian.

Flood damage is typically not something that a lot of folks like to mess with given the fact that it tends to create mold and mildew, fry electronics, and cause rust, but those that aren’t afraid to tackle such a project will find some clear benefits from this trio of C8 Corvette Stingrays. In fact, they look decent from the photos, though that obviously doesn’t tell the whole story.

This blue 3LT coupe, for example, is a bit of a mystery in terms of how many miles it has or what’s wrong with it, thanks to the fact that the digital dash isn’t working. It’s possible that the battery is simply dead, but we imagine that the electronics were waterlogged, which means that someone will need to replace a lot of expensive gear to get it up and running again.

The same goes for this red 1LT model, which also isn’t functioning the way it should, though it doesn’t look terrible from the outside. There are likely some serious gremlins lurking beneath that surface, ones that could easily bankrupt somebody. But like it and this the final example of our trio – another 3LT trimmed C8 – there’s plenty of potential for reward as well. It’s simply all about one’s risk tolerance, which in this case would have to be quite high, but that big gamble might just pay off in the end.
