Dream Cars: Scoring a Gorgeous Laguna Blue C2 After a Long Search

This stunning Laguna Blue C2 was picked up for a fantastic price and it was close to home, too.

While there is a wealth of useful information and interesting debates present in the Corvette Forum forums, we must say that our favorite thing about sifting through the site is seeing members manage to buy and bring home their dream cars. It’s an exhilarating feeling, after all, and one that’s best shared with fellow enthusiasts, particularly since many of our family members just don’t understand our passion for Corvettes. That was true recently of Corvette Forum member Sullyvette, who managed to find a gorgeous Laguna Blue C2 and bring it home for a heck of a deal.

“Ok, so I get a call from a mechanic who says he has a friend who has a ’66 coupe he’s thinking about selling,” he said. “The mechanic tells me it’s a blue coupe, 327/300 four-speed. Great paint, he painted it a number of years ago. Clean original motor/tranny. Pretty much what I’m looking for. Not exactly, but close. He tells me his friend is leaving town to go south soon. I ask to see a few pictures. He sends me a few. Now, I’m interested. Knockoffs, paint looks good. Laguna Blue. Never was a fan. Totally changed my mind when I saw it in direct sunlight. I told him it had to be an 8.5 or better paint. He said you wont be disappointed.”

“So my son and I go and look at it yesterday. After a quick walk around, I tell my son this one’s coming home with us. I conducted a good inspection, frame, interior, birdcage etc. The Black Book came in handy again. I bought it and my son transported it home for me. I’ve had about 30 minutes with her at home. Here are some pictures, I’m quite happy. First coupe, had five verts in the past. No A/C, PB, new black leather seats. Interior is immaculate. A few items to be tended to. Please excuse the leaves/dirt and messy condition. I’m just getting started.”

To us, this Laguna Blue C2 is essentially perfect, but as one might imagine, there are some things that need to be addressed. That includes the power antenna, which won’t currently go up, a small hole in the exhaust, and a non-working emergency brake light. Nothing major, however, or the kind of thing that would make one regret such a purpose, especially since the new owner said that he “paid far less than anything I’ve seen on eBay or any auction.”
