How-To Tuesday: C6 Seats In Your C5 Corvette, Not a Problem
Almost everyone thinks one generation of the Corvette just stands out in front of the others. Generally there isn’t just one thing that sets it out from the rest, but several things. In the end we all love the Corvette, and every generation has staunch supporters.
That said, one thing that GM has become reliant on, perhaps to the car’s detriment, is the universal use of certain things from year to year, and in this case generation to generation. However, in this example, that could be a good thing.
The last 5th generation Corvette model year was 2004, so best case scenario your Corvette may be 11-years-old, worst case it’s 18. In that time, garaged or not, you may have worn out your seats and you might be looking for options. Well one of those options would be to swap out your C5 seats and drop in a pair of C6 upgrades. And as I hinted above, it’s significantly easier than you might imagine. As a matter of fact, the most difficult part may be finding the color and look you desire from someone willing to part with their 6th generation seats.
So what if you do find a new pair? Now what? Well thankfully one of our writers in the “How-Tos” section has already come up with that answer. Check out this article on how to swap out the seats. There are really only four main steps in order to swap out your seats, and in the time it has taken you to read this article, you would almost be half done with the swap. Ok, maybe half done with one seat. You get the idea, though, it won’t take that long.
