Pay Attention to Danny Popp’s C5 Corvette at the OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational

Over the past few years, competitors have been coming to the event prepared for all-out war, and throughout the history of the OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational presented by K&N Filters (OUSCI), only two participants have ever won the title twice. Danny Popp is one of those two people.

Popp’s ride is a 2003 Corvette Z06; however, it’s far from stock. While Popp plays his cards close to the vest concerning the car he races, he’s much more forthcoming when helping up-and-coming drivers set up their own cars, and in offering advice to those who need it. Popp’s a true competitor, and he wants everyone to be at their best, and that shines through.

“The field (this year) was stacked full of people with like experience, accomplishments and hardware. Competing in events is always fun regardless of the outcome, but it’s even more fun being competitive for the overall win,” says Popp.

For those wishing to enter #OUSCI, Popp has these words of advice: “I have three suggestions for future competitors. Seat time, seat time, and SEAT TIME. The cars and the preparation of them is important, but nowhere near as important as getting routine practice at these types of events to have consistent and FAST driving. Consistency wins events, and helps with evaluations of car setups for further evolution of the platforms.”
