I don’t know about you, but there have been times where I may have slightly gone past the speed limit in my Corvette. Once or twice. Generally on those extremely rare occasions, that mile or two over was broken in a fairly straight line. I never felt inclined to take my car around bending and curving roads at aggressive speeds, although I’ve wanted to do it with other people’s cars. The point is, neither my Corvette or me was really ready to take on a track day. But with this week’s How-To Tuesday article, I could potentially set myself up for success.

Being track ready is more than simply showing up with your car on a track day, especially if it is something that you have never done. Getting to the track is certainly an important step, but preparing for it before you even leave your house could be the biggest step you take. For example, would you rather take a test that you studied for, or one that you had never looked over the material? Fairly easy question to answer for most people. The same is true for a track day. If you can, check out the course before you drive it. Study and memorize the layout. Knowing where you are going to need to brake and what direction you are going to turn before you get there will make for a fairly easy and obvious advantage.

The article goes over several other ways to get your Corvette track ready. Some of the suggestions may seem common place, but others you might not have thought about. Don’t look over any detail that could give you a leg up on the competition. Stay safe and have fun. Just don’t forget to send us the pictures when you are done!
