The current generation of the Chevy Corvette is an amazing piece of engineering. The C7 Corvette ticks all the right boxes when it comes to affordable performance. It’s offered with a manual transmission. It has a thumping V8 engine up front, which powers the rear wheels. And the chassis is an absolute pleasure to rough up on a racetrack; something you can do repeatedly, while other cars require cool-down laps or need to be brought in.

However, with all of that said, the C7 Corvette isn’t exactly the end-all-be-all of the performance world. It’s also not that reliable, at least according to Car and Driver. The publication bought a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray coupe Z51 manual for themselves as a long-term test vehicle, and C&D didn’t exactly find it to be the pinnacle of reliability. Over the year they owned the C7 Corvette, it broke numerous times, including the engine grenading itself due to poor components.

The C7 also went through a starter, tires extremely quickly, and parts of the dash and infotainment center — among other components that C&D calls inexcusable for a new car. You should read the whole story here, but we’d like to know if any of you have had similar issues in your own cars. Sound off in the comments below.
