Barn Find C3 Corvette Restoration Project Is a Doozie

One thing lacking from recent barn find stories is the happy ending of how someone took the dusty old fiberglass and breathed new life in it. That is until Corvette Forum user allC34Me posted up one of the most photographic and intensive frame-off (although the frame was already off) restorations in this massive thread documenting the restoration.

I’ve included some of the pictures here for example, but the thread speaks for itself. The process started with the 1972 C3 Corvette being found as an unfinished project. The body was already separate from the chassis and simply suspended in a barn for 10 years. That’s when allC34Me got to work uncovering the damage (the frame was deemed unsuitable), but all of the running gear was good to go.

I’m still only able to give part of the story here, as the restoration is documented in a way that makes a Haynes manual look incomplete. Metal and fabrication work on the frame, rust removal, a little bit more rust removal, and a whole lot more.

Now this thread is still ongoing, and the restoration is not yet complete. We still get to see the body and chassis unite, which will make for a very special occasion. So make sure to follow along!
