C6 Corvette Crashes Into Crowd

The owner of this C6 Corvette tried to show off for the crowd but wound up crashing into it instead. (DON’T DO THIS.)

As most automotive enthusiasts are well aware, the Ford Mustang has developed a reputation for being a bit hard to handle, at least when inexperienced owners try to show off for crowds. This desire to bask in the glow of adoring fans and potentially the internet is apparently too strong for many pony car owners to resist, and sadly, the car’s combination of V8 power and rear-wheel drive typically results in those drivers losing control and running into that same crowd. However, a C6 Corvette recently suffered the same fate when attempting to do its best Mustang impression after leaving a cars and coffee gathering near Dallas, Texas recently, according to WFAA News.

The incident was caught on video, as one might imagine, and it’s a scary scene for sure. It all went down around 10:30 am at a Cars and Coffee Southlake event in Trophy Club, Texas, when a large number of people lined the side of that road, watching the participating cars and their owners leave the show. It seems as if the C6 Corvette driver pulled out, attempted to give it the beans, and instead of rocketing off in a straight line, the car quickly veered toward the crowd.

The Corvette smashed into multiple bystanders, injuring two of them in the process – one hitting their head on the car’s windshield, and the other suffering a leg injury from the crash. As for the driver, well, no charges have been filed as of this writing, but the car was impounded by police as this is an ongoing investigation.

Police blame both road conditions and an inexperienced driver for this particular incident, which obviously could have gone much worse. In fact, watching the video, it’s pretty amazing that only two people were hurt, and that their injuries apparently weren’t serious in nature. With temperatures plunging across the country, it’s also an important reminder that while showing off for crowds can be fun, it can also wind up backfiring in spectacular fashion, as many Mustang drivers are well aware.
