Featuring the C4 and C5 Corvette of the Month
Moving along in the timeline from the previous Corvette of the Month winners that we featured here, we now take a look at the C4 and C5 winners. The C4 especially marks the move into a more modern era for the Corvette with moves to new engine technology, wedge styling, digital dashboards, and all of the sci-fi influence you’d expect from an ’80s sports car. Spanning 12 years, it was also one of the longest running generations of Corvette, only edged out by the C3. The C5 was a shorter run, and to gearheads like us, stands as one of the best performance bargains out there. Debuting in 1996, it’s also 20-years-old. Twenty! Wow, time flies.
Let’s take a closer look at the winning C4 submission by forum member randy ransome: a pristine 1995 ZR-1. Black paint covers the facelift curves of the later C4, and there’s no doubt, it’s timeless. Just one year ahead of when the C5 would debut, too.
Fast forward three years to 1998, and you’ll find our C5 winner. In a very rare shade of Medium Pearl Purple metallic — only available that year — with some minor upgrades both visual and performance oriented.
These are but two of the hot rides up for our Corvette of the Year, which showcases all generations, and offers the winner exclusive access to the National Corvette Museum.
