C7 Corvette Z06 Weight and Alignment Discoveries

This type of stuff might make me look like a nerd, but I love weights and alignments on cars because I know just how much of a difference they make in the way a car handles. Thankfully we have a Corvette Forum member who has uncovered the Z06’s true weight and alignment properties. Engineers get paid handsomely for their work, so it is worth observing and respecting.

Starting with the car, it’s a 2016 C7 Z06 with the optional aux radiator, and manual transmission. Putting it on a corner scale, it came in at 3506 pounds, with 3/4 tank of fuel. Things get more interesting when you start to look at the alignment. Camber for the front axle was at -1.2 degrees on both left and right sides with 0 toe. The rear axle measured -1.2 on the left and 1.7 on the right. Toe was measured at 1/16th inch in.

The Z06 was measured as new with about 10 miles on the odometer, and then again at 300 miles. Surprisingly, the alignment changed quite a bit. Right rear camber had lost a half degree of camber, and the other corners of the car changed measurably as well. It was then discovered that the bolts on the eccentric bushings could use a little extra torquing.
