C5 Corvette Gets Destroyed In Crash, Driver Walks Away

We’ve heard of some Corvettes getting the short end of the stick in a wreck, however this crash sets that bar at its highest level. Corvette Forum member Vette_Fan had this unfortunate incident unfold right in front of him when a careless driver collided with him. The impact forced the Corvette into oncoming lanes of traffic, which resulted in two other impacts. One was directly head on with a truck, and the other was with another car who couldn’t quite get out of the way.

The C5 took impacts exactly as it should though. Clearly, the car will be a total loss, with the right side of the car unrecognizable. Amazingly, through all of this carnage, the driver walked away. But Vette_Fan has to deal with some minor back and shoulder pain, as well as the hassle of making sure his insurance pays the right price for the Corvette.

The C5 is now a 20-year-old design, but clearly GM engineers had safety in mind just as much as they did performance. We don’t know if Vette_Fan will get another C5, or upgrade to a C6, however. Either way, I say we send him some good vibes while he puts the pieces back together.
