Teenager Crashes Parent's C5 Corvette

Speeding through town in his parents’ C5 Corvette, this teen lost control and smashed into a storefront.

While it’s oftentimes difficult to remember, we were all young once, and most of us have done our fair share of dumb things in our lifetimes. That may have even included “borrowing” our parents’ car, an act that can typically end in one of several outcomes – they don’t find out, they do notice and ground us, or perhaps the worst possible scenario – we wind up wrecking said vehicle. Unfortunately for a 17-year-old that took a joyride in his parent’s C5 Corvette recently, that latter result is the card that he was dealt, according to the South Brunswick Police Department in New Jersey.

According to the local PD, the teenager was speeding through town at around one in the morning when he lost control of his parent’s C5 Corvette, at which point it smashed into a local deli and completely totaled the car in the process. Unfortunately, it also smashed up the storefront of that restaurant as well, leaving both in shambles and in need of major repairs.

From the looks of the aftermath, it seems as if the teen sideswiped something on his way through town, which ripped off the door and much of the bodywork in the process. It looks as if they managed to exit the car from the passenger side following this collision, which makes sense given the catastrophic damage that occurred on the opposite side.

If there’s a silver lining to this story, it’s that the teen walked away with no injuries and no one else was involved, though they did receive a citation from police. The poor C5 Corvette, on the other hand, looks like a total loss at this point, and we can only imagine how its owners felt when they received the sort of late night phone call that no one wants to take.
