Battered Vietnam Veteran’s Corvette Found

Good samaritan steps up to help local authorities return beloved ‘Vette to its owner.

If there’s one thing that really gets us riled up here at Corvette Forum, it’s anyone messing with a war veteran and their Corvette.

Of course, that’s one of those things that should go without saying. And to be frank, it’s disrespecting a vet that really fires us up more than anything tied to a car.

Take, for example, a recent case in Southern Florida where a 72-year-old Vietnam War veteran named Omar Sixto was beat up and carjacked for his prized 2000 Corvette. Mr. Sixto was fixing something on his windshield when he noticed a suspicious man walking back and forth across the street nearby, according to a 7 News report. After the man began attacking him, Sixto said, “I don’t remember how I got down. I don’t remember how I got up, but I know that I was bleeding.”

Luckily, a good samaritan who recognized Mr. Sixto’s red convertible Corvette from news reports, reported the incident to authorities. That enabled local police to track down the car and apprehend a suspect as well. Mr. Sixto will soon be reunited with his beloved ‘Vette.

As for the person who stole Mr. Sixto’s car, we hope he’s prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for engaging in such a cowardly act. And to the good Samaritan who reported the incident, a huge “thank you” from all of us here at Corvette Forum for helping to reconnect one of our American war veterans with his ‘Vette.
