Ford Escape Crashes Into Garage Crushes C4 Corvette

This poor C4 Corvette wasn’t even safe in its own garage after the crossover smashed through the door and drove over it.

While automotive-related accidents have been a thing just about as long as automobiles have been around, it certainly seems like we’re seeing more and more of them in recent years. Data supports that notion, blaming things like distracted and impaired driving for a rise in accidents, as well as accident-related injuries and deaths, sadly. But while one might think that their car is at least mostly safe from being run in to when it’s sitting inside a garage, that certainly wasn’t the case in Jefferson County, Missouri recently when someone driving a Ford Escape smashed through a garage door and wound up on top of this poor C4 Corvette, according to KMOV4 News.

As one might imagine right off the bat, this is a bizarre case with few facts to go by, at least for now. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says that the Escape driver just so happens to own the house that she crashed into, so we’ll assume that the C4 Corvette belongs to her or a family member as well, making this even more painful of an incident than it already was.

As for the how, well, that much is unclear. Police say that it’s believed “something happened with the accelerator,” meaning that it could have gotten stuck, but we have other theories. This looks like it could very well be a classic case of someone mistaking the gas for the brake, as the driver could have just been pulling in her driveway when she hit the wrong pedal, leading to total disaster in this case. The incident also took place at the reasonable time of 8am, and there’s no mention of illicit substances being involved, either.

Whatever the reason, the carnage is pretty horrible in this case. The Escape wound up sitting directly on top of the poor C4 Corvette, crushing it underneath. It’s difficult to see how much damage the little crossover caused, but it has to be relatively significant, likely cracking some bodywork and perhaps other components – not to mention the damage suffered by the crossover and the house it ran into. One thing’s for sure – we wouldn’t want to have to explain this incident to anyone – whether that be police, the insurance company, or our own family, whose house and sports car we crashed into.
