Top 10 Racing Movies: Did Your Favorite Make the Cut?
We’re still divided over the order of this list of racing movies.
Racing movies are subjective. Documentaries are usually where things land best with enthusiasts, because they don’t get tangled up with Hollywood antics. That’s what happened to Driven with Sylvester Stallone. It’s on this list, which is a bit of a shame, because it was renown as one of the worst racing movies of all time. As well, Paul Newman’s “Winning” is a movie we’d place much higher up on the list than its measly 8th place finish. Newman later went on to co-own a very successful IndyCar team, after all. But at least the rest of the list does a good job of redeeming itself.
The majority of Donut Media‘s list above is pretty spot-on, with some truly legendary flicks getting the recognition they deserve. Dust to Glory is one of our favorites, with Baja racing getting the attention it deserves. One Baja racer once described it as a 1,000 mile plane crash. That alone makes us thankful for the tarmac we drive on.
