We're Not Falling For The Latest Mid-Engine Corvette Rumors

More rumors are emerging about the mid-engine Corvette. And our eyes can’t roll any harder.

Unlike an album by Fleetwood Mac of a similar name, rumors about a forthcoming mid-engine Corvette are getting old, and a bit tiring. This latest example comes from a blog called Corvette Action Center. And some of the details in the alleged report seem a bit outlandish.

For starters, there’s no definitive or confirmed information to be found within, just a vague indication from an anonymous source that a mid-engine Corvette was “signed off” on. Additionally, it is claimed that the car would have 1,500 horsepower. We have previously reported on the new GM LT engine patents, but neither of those engines in that patent are capable of such numbers.

Detailed wording in the “leak” also makes it seem like it comes from someone who doesn’t really know the industry. Like that “they will try to compete with the Ferraris and Lambos.” Call us skeptical, but that seems like a pretty lazy easy assumption to make. Aren’t the ZO6 and ZR1 already competing in the same territory? When given the claimed 1,500 horsepower, you’d think they’d try to target Bugatti. But we digress.

Whether there’s any truth to this report or not is yet to be seen. We’ll certainly keep you updated when, or more likely if, we find any additional confirmed information.
