It’s Supercharged! Leroy Gets Boost and a Wicked Roll Cage

You simply cannot beat the amount of awesomeness that is produced from an exterior roll cage.

A lot has been happening in Florida with Cleetus McFarland’s C5 Corvette, Leroy. The car now boasts a supercharger, and probably the coolest modification to ever be fitted to a car: an exterior roll cage.

For Leroy, this works out perfectly, since the C5 has no body panels anyway. As an added benefit, the car is now certified for safety at drag racing tracks to run in the 8s. It even has a parachute mount. Mounts for a quick-release wing are also included, so it can perform double duty at drifting and road courses. The car has also been cleaned up a little bit, with four rear tail lights finally back in place.

The need for a cage came about after Cleetus slapped a supercharger on Leroy. But that wasn’t all that was done. Performance heads and a cam were also used, ultimately for the aim of 1,000 horsepower.

With that amount of power on tap, the race between Leroy and Unicorn C5 is going to be quite close. Leroy has the advantage of light weight, but Kyle’s C5 is going to have the advantage of grip.

Stay tuned as Cleetus is soon to take his C5 to a dyno to put down some real numbers. Is he going to make the claimed 1,000 HP? We’ll see, sooner than later.
